GiraffeSpotter helps fight the extinction of wild giraffes across Africa.
The Giraffe Conservation Foundation (GCF) has a need to collect more data for research and to drive donations.
With the help of advanced AI that uniquely identifies the giraffe's fur pattern, we can make accurate population surveys based on quick shots from people's phones. Citizen Science by safari tourists, farmers, and tour guides.
Using the app, tourists and tour operators, among others, can upload pictures of giraffes. Our algorithm then matches the picture with a database of giraffe images, using the fur pattern. Together with data extracted from the picture, such as location and date, this provides the GCF with rich data.
The app also allows users to browse the giraffe directory, view information and make donations.
