🎭 Carnival at Sapucaí: your digital VIP area on the avenue
Want to stay up-to-date on what's happening at the Rio Sambadrome parades? Check the parade order, understand the regulations of LIESA and Liga RJ—the organizations that, together with Riotur, manage the most vibrant nightlife on the planet—or find out who will judge the categories and which schools will be performing on the avenue in the Special Group, Gold Series, or Junior Schools during the festivities?
Then you need to check out Carnival at Sapucaí, the app that brings together all this—and much more! From the rankings and themes of all the schools, year by year, to the official albums of samba songs since 1984—the year the Sambadrome opened—to videos, documentaries, book recommendations on samba and Carnival, and photographic records of the main Carnival events.
Launched in 2014, the app was born from the Papo de Samba project, a website created by journalist Denise Carla and designer Mari Patuelli, and was given a logo by award-winning visual artist Glen Batoca. The app is a digital guide to the Samba Walkway, perfect for those who want to arrive at Sapucaí knowing everything: from samba-enredo to the main segments of the samba schools.
And to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Sambadrome's inauguration, since 2024 the app has gained a special tab about Sapucaí, featuring the history of the avenue, winning sambas and parades, and documentaries about this temple of samba and Brazilian popular culture.
And the best part? Carnival at Sapucaí is 100% free! Just download the app, available on the Play Store, or access the URL in your browser and add the app shortcut to your phone or computer's home screen.
Excited? So, pretend it's gossip and spread it around! 😜
