Camera & Microphone Blocker is a free application that blocks both internal and external attempts to open your device’s camera and/or microphone. ShieldApps’ Camera and Microphone Blocker provides a user-friendly solution, designed to easily block and protect your phone from unwanted privacy intrusion and abuse. The simple interface is easy to use and allows the user to choose settings. Android devices’ users can block either-or camera and microphone. The home screen button will display the current status, either Blocked or Unblocked.

While the Camera & Microphone Blocker is on, when a user hits the camera button, he or she will get a message that Camera is disabled by a security policy. A similar message is received when a user tries to turn on the voice recorder. However, ordinary phone call conversations will not be affected

Microphone Blocker – Effectively Blocks microphone usage, limiting it to phone calls and blocking out all external attempts as well.

It does work, but I give it 3 stars. I tested it multiple times and it certainly does block the camera & microphone, but there are a few reasons for my rating. I think it lacks an on/off toggle widget for the home screen, a notification bar indicator and a toggle button in the notification drop down menu so it can be controlled as easy as turning wifi on/off. It's impossible to know if it's activated or not. Also, im unsure if it's capable of blocking the microphone of bluetooth devices...?

This app used to be great and worked well at blocking the camera and microphone to the point where the app got so annoying when I received calls, but that means it's doing its job. This was a while back when no ads were bombarding you every time you click anything on the app. The app also glitches to the point where I had to uninstall just to get the unblock button to work again.

It works, but there are way too many problems with this app to use it. It probably clashes with the phone application - when I make a call, I can't hear and say anything (even though it is not activated), the second time I call is ok, though. Then after actually making the call, system sound plays through the speakers with headphones connected. That's all I could observe, phone is evolveo strongphone G8, system version 7.0
