In an atmosphere full of heritage, in the city of Liwa, the gateway to the desert of the Empty Quarter, in the Al Dhafra region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Liwa Date Festival is held every year, organized by the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Committee in Abu Dhabi
The festival embodies the committee’s strategy, whose programs, festivals and events are inspired by the thought of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God bless his soul, in preserving the ancient Emirati heritage and its continuity, especially palm and date palms, which represent a mainstay of the Emirati society and its inherited traditions. And emphasizing the role of wise leadership in consolidating the position of date palms, dates and dates as a symbol of the authenticity of the past, good for the present, and a guarantee for tomorrow.
The festival is also one of the most important heritage events and attractions in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the many ways in which dates have affected the country's cultural, heritage and economic life. It provides a great place for visitors to learn about dates and taste the most common date varieties grown in the UAE.

وسط أجواء عابقة بالتراث، في مدينة ليوا، بوابة صحراء الربع الخالي، في منطقة الظفرة بإمارة أبوظبي، يقام في كل عام مهرجان ليوا للرطب ،بتنظيم من لجنة إدارة المهرجانات والبرامج الثقافية والتراثية بأبوظبي
ويجسد المهرجان استراتيجية اللجنة التي تستلهم برامجها ومهرجاناتها وفعالياتها من فكر المغفور له بإذن الله تعالى الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان «طيب الله ثراه»، في المحافظة على التراث الإماراتي العريق واستمراريته، وبخاصة النخيل والرطب
