The Ajolote is an emblematic species for Mexico, that is why the bank has presented this 50 peso bill. On one side of the bill we can see the ajolotito, we see rivers and lakes of Xochimilco and on the other the foundation of México-Tenochtitlan, based on the mural by Diego Rivera.

We can also see on the bill an eagle posing on a cactus with the atl tlachinolli "a snake" in its beak, which is an important part of our Mexican national shield.

In addition, reference is made to the cultivation of corn in the region.

All of this represents the historical period of ancient Mexico on a 50 peso bill.
