About this game

Callbreak is a trick-taking card game played with a standard 52-card deck by 4 players.
It’s similar to Spades. The objective is to win the exact number of tricks you bid before the round starts.

Goal of the Game

Each player calls (bids) a number of tricks they think they can win in that round.
Your aim is to win at least that many tricks — not less.

Players

4 players

No teams — each plays individually

Deck and Card Ranking

52-card deck (no jokers)

Order: A > K > Q > J > 10 > 9 > 8 > 7 > 6 > 5 > 4 > 3 > 2

Spades (♠) are always trump cards — they beat all other suits.

Gameplay

Dealing:

Each player gets 13 cards.

Bidding (Calling):

Each player announces how many tricks (hands) they expect to win (1–13).

Playing:

The player to the dealer’s right starts the first trick.

Players must follow the same suit if possible.

If you don’t have that suit, you can play a spade (trump) or any card.

The highest card of the leading suit wins unless a spade is played — then the highest spade wins.

The winner of a trick leads the next round.

Scoring:

If you meet or exceed your call → you score your call points.

Each extra trick gives 0.1 bonus point.

If you fail to meet your call → you lose the same number of points you called.

📊 Example:

You call 4 and win 5 tricks → Score = 4 + 0.1 = 4.1

You call 5 but win only 3 → Score = -5

🏆 Winning the Game

The game usually has 5 rounds.

After all rounds, the player with the highest total score wins.

⚙️ Optional Rules (Variations)

Some versions make Spades must be broken (can’t use until someone else does).

No re-deal even if a player gets all low cards.

Tied calls can be broken by highest total tricks.
