Checkmate is a game created by me in 2022 and materialized into an application in 2024. It was developed to help many English language learners around the world.
It's a game to expand the lexicon (set of words) in your brain in a much faster, more effective and lighter way. Assuming that language is stored in the brain and that if the same brain does not have words, the person will not be able to communicate with due fluency, therefore acquiring words becomes a very important task. Of course, the game can be used to acquire words or for the player to test their lexicon.
The game features words from different areas of interest. I tried to make a selection of words that range from common to unknown but they are all important. These are words that range from the first level (A1) to the fifth level (C1). The game encompasses words from almost all grammatical classes. From nouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, verbs, conjunctions, expressions, etc.
Acquiring new words in English may seem like an impossible mission but I have found patterns that make it easier to acquire/recognize new words. The pattern is that all words in this game are made up of two "chunks" (let's say they are all words made up of at least two other words, for example the name of the game itself, Check + mate) that are arranged in two trays.
