About this app

El Sol. The Ibero-American Festival of Advertising Communication is the Ibero-American meeting of creatives, which arises as an initiative of the Transformative Creativity Association (ACT) to promote the creativity of Spanish advertising agencies.

The first edition of the festival was in 1986 and it was held in Marbella, it was called the Film and Television Festival as it was the only section in which it was possible to compete. Subsequently, El Sol has had several locations, from San Sebastián to Madrid via Bilbao, where it has remained from 2012 until the 33rd edition in 2018.

In 2003, the festival decided to open itself to the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking market, including the Spanish-speaking market in the United States, with which it became international in character and became a point of reference for Ibero-American creativity.

Currently El Sol has 14 sections (Film, Print Media, Exterior, Audio, Media, Brand Activation and Experience, PR, Digital and Mobile, Integrated Campaigns, Innovation, Design, Branded Content, Production and Best International Idea) each with their respective categories.

The festival awards a Grand Prize in each of the sections, and the three metals according to the score obtained by the juries. Among all the winning campaigns in that edition of El Sol, the highest award, Sol de Platino, is awarded to the winning campaign of that edition of the festival.

The festival has been directed by different professionals from ACT partner agencies, including: Xavier Oliver, José Guerrero, Agustín Elbaile, Miguel Angél Bañuelos and Carlos Martínez Cabrera. In 2016 the management happened to be in the hands of four managers (Cristina Barturen, Javier Suso, Xabier Olazábal and Vicente Hernández) and in the 34th edition corresponding to 2019 the management happened to be in the hands of Cristina Barturen and David Coral. Currently Alfonso Marian, President of Ogilvy Spain, is the head of the festival

El Sol has a participation of more than 2,500 pieces and around 1,500 people attend the events held within the framework of the festival, conferences, exhibition, awards ceremony ...
