About this app

GPS Average takes the GPS readings from your device and displays them on screen with the average of the points in the middle. This can be useful when trying to plot a point where there is not a clear view of the sky and you want to know more accurately the location and see what readings your GPS is giving you.
Place your device on the point required and start the application. As it reads the GPS signals it will average them while displaying them on screen to show you where the readings are, compared to the average.
When it reaches 100 it will give an audible indication.
If it cannot read the GPS signals it will give an audible warning after 4 seconds.
The current point is green with the current accuracy displayed in blue round about it.

This app was designed mainly for geocaching when geocachers are placing new caches.

I'd probably rate it higher but there is no menu available to change units of measure or other parameters. I also turned it on this morning and left my phone sitting on a window sil, knowing it would take 5.56 hours to reach 20k samples, the max shown onscreen, but for some reason, it stopped at 3000, only 50 minutes later.

Before I give this app five stars, it needs to have at least two more decimal points of precision, and has a settings to change to DMS, and decimal degrees. Another, there needs to be some explanations. Edit: I don't see a mechanism to change the readout DD MM.mmm to DD.ddddddd or DD MM SS.ssss. My review was based on the resolution that I saw and still see. Also, I should mention that a resolution of 1 meter or so would be relatively good for an old style L1 only gps, but not dual-freq SBAS. .

Hi Jim, The precision used is theoretically to 11.1mm at the equator and better as you move away. I show Decimal Degrees and Degree Decimal Minutes as used in geocaching so the precision is more than adequate for that application. I will be working on a small upgrade soon and will update the instructions then. Many thanks, G

Seems to record accurate data but when I click "show saved" the app just shut down. Can't figure the problem out, removing app.
