Day alignment tool for alignment to the North or South Celestial Pole without polar scope also useful for solar/eclipse observation, or even for night alignment where you do not have a line of sight with the Polaris or Octans.
This app implements magnetic declination correction to obtain greater alignment precision.

Something is very wrong with Azimuth detection algorithm. I seems to be highly affected by "rotation" as in the polar rotation. It should just be a compass with magnetic declination. But I think the are some how it's broken either Southern Hemisphere, wrong declination data....

I don't understand the good ratings. This app is consistently 20 degrees off to the west. I know where Polaris is in the sky and where true celestial north is, but this app always claims "alignment" when I am 20 degrees west of the actual celestial pole. My equipment isn't pointing anywhere near the correct position when the app indicates that it is correct.

This app doesn't work with my ioptron sky tracker even with the suggested wood stick. I suspect the ferrous materials or stray magnetic field. It works well when a good distance away (1-2 meter?).
