About this app

The Alice Metrics app controls the Alice oil gauge, which measures how much oil is left in your tank, giving you the peace of mind that you'll never run out again.

With the app, you can:

- See how many gallons is left in your tank
- Get notifications when you're running low or have met the delivery minimum for on-demand oil providers
- View your historical oil consumption and tank level

What's the difference between auto-fill and on-demand oil?

If you’re an auto-fill customer, your oil provider decides when to fill your tank based on a computer program; they don’t actually know how much oil you have left. This can lead to unexpected empty tanks if you have a house full of guests or severe weather moves in. Alice can help with this. And Alice can just help you feel more secure by letting you know how much oil is in your tank.

In addition, being an auto-fill customer means you’re paying up to $0.40 more per gallon, since oil providers charge a premium for delivering oil to your home automatically and allowing you to maintain a credit account with them.

Why doesn’t everybody use on-demand oil, then?

Companies that offer on-demand oil charge less per gallon, but they also require a minimum amount of oil per delivery, which means you have to know how much oil is in your tank. You also have to remember to place the order when you need it.

Without Alice, you may need to make regular trips down to the basement to check your oil level. Or maybe your tank is located in a difficult-to-access crawl space or accessible only through an outdoor bulkhead. Or maybe you’re managing a home from afar. With Alice, those problems are solved.

This app does exactly what it's supposed to do. It shows oil level in one or more tanks accurately and shows history in a few different ways. Also of note is that the developer is very knowledge and helpful. I only gave it four stars rather than five because v3.0.3 has a bug that causes it to crash for me when I hit the back arrow. To clear the crash, I either force stop the app or reboot the phone. It's not an issue once you are aware of it.

Having the ability to see how much oil is in our 400 gallon tank without doing the manual check is easy with the Alice 3 device installed and the phone application allows me to view the current level remotely. Historical oil level info available thru app is good to use to guage our oil consumption & when to order another delivery. Support quickly responds to my questions or concerns.

This doesn't work. Ran out of oil because I got to comfortable relying on this device. Apparently it only works with fresh batteries, above a 70% charge, though they won't tell you this prior to having an issue. Do not purchase these gauges if you need/want reliable operation.
