The Federal is an English news platform that can be accessed through the Android app. The polatform covers a wide range of subjects ranging from politics, national, international, business, sports and entertainment news while laying special emphasis on education and health.

Every day we bring to you one specific topic in a section called ‘The Eighth Column’ with hardcore reportage coupled with data and analysis. The stories in ‘The Eighth Column’ are carefully selected; after intensive research, they are mindfully written to reflect upon the issues which matter.

The Federal presents news in a pleasing manner. Interactive graphics and stories are presented in an easily navigable UI. Complex ideas are broken down and presented in an easy, understandable format.

The Federal is part of New Generation Media Corporation Private Limited, the company that launched Puthiya Thalaimurai in 2011 from Chennai. The Tamil news channel rose to number 1 position within a short time period. The Federal is the company’s first foray into English news space.

Ratings and reviews

One of the smoother news apps in the overcrowded market. The interface is slick and neat, and the app gives real news updates. Two suggestions: the updates, when tapped, open in the browser. These should be directed to the app. Second, a news-in-brief section would help the uninitiated.

Articles were good. But the app is bad. No offline viewing. Not able to copy the text - so u can't web search/dictionary the contents. No settings for the app. No cache. The new once read can't be read again without internet. Consumes more net data. Unable to use at low net speed. Please develope application not an restricted browser like this.

Wow. What a beautiful application with superb UI and organized news. I always explore new news application and this one has caught my eyes. I am gonna use it for longer.
