“This is a book in which the desires of nations are equal, and in which Arabs and non-Arabs are similar, because even though it is an Arab Bedouin, and collectively Islamic, it has taken from the side of philosophy, combined the knowledge of hearing and the knowledge of experience, and combined between the sciences of the Qur’an and the Sunnah the conscience of the sense and the feeling of instinct. The mortal desires it just as the hermit desires it. ..”

Abu Othman Amr bin Bahr bin Mahboob bin Fazara Al-Laithi Al-Kinani Al-Basri (159 AH - 255 AH) was an Arab writer who was one of the major imams of literature in the Abbasid era. He was born in Basra and died there.
