This book, authored by Imam Ibn Abi al-Dunya, includes a collection of Prophetic hadiths and sayings of the early Muslims that discuss intention and sincerity. Despite its small size, it is precious and contains numerous benefits; it is a reference work among the books of Islamic heritage.
It comprises 56 hadiths and narrations, each with its chain of transmission going back to its source among the Successors (may God have mercy on them), the Companions (may God be pleased with them), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), concerning sincerity and intention. These narrations call upon the believer to constantly examine the extent of their sincerity towards God.
Author: Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr, Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Ubayd ibn Sufyan ibn Qays al-Baghdadi al-Qurashi, a freedman of the Banu Umayya (208 AH - 281 AH), nicknamed Ibn Abi al-Dunya (a nickname that became more commonly used than his given name). Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr was born in Baghdad in the early third century AH, in the year 208 AH. He was an Arab historian and educator who tutored the Abbasid Caliph al-Mu'tadid and his son al-Muktafi. The scholar Ibn Kathir (may God have mercy on him) said of him in his work al-Bidaya wa'l-Nihaya: "He was renowned for his numerous, beneficial, widely circulated, and popular writings on topics of spiritual refinement and other subjects. He was truthful, a memorizer of hadith, and a man of integrity."

- Very beautiful... simple and concise, yet important. We should read books like this periodically to help us reconsider our actions and guide them to the right path while renewing our intentions.
Ahmad Ashraf
- It is very beneficial to read such booklets from time to time. Even if we already know the hadiths and sayings contained within, reading them revives faith in the heart and increases its fervor.
Hanaa
- A small but valuable book... a compilation of hadiths and narrations related to intention. The value of actions, small and large, even the ordinary ones like sleeping, eating, and drinking, depends on intention. The matter is serious and awe-inspiring, no matter how great it is. How can a person perform an action that appears righteous but becomes worthless in the sight of God if the intention is corrupt? Intention and its opposite

- I love books that deal with matters of the heart, for with a sound and pure heart, the limbs are guided aright and deeds are blessed, even if they are few.
Hadeel
- I don't know if it is certain that a deed is purely and without blemish in this world. Sincerity remains a means and an end that the servant always hopes for, and he always warns against hypocrisy until God takes him and he knows then what he has done.
