About this app

The app disseminates the air quality data produced by Arpa Piemonte through the measurements of the stations of the Regional Air Quality Detection System and the modeling simulations produced by the Regional Air Quality Modeling System, for the parameters PM10, PM2.5, NO₂ and O₃.

Furthermore, the levels of the operational protocol for the implementation of urgent anti-smog measures (traffic lights) adopted by the Piedmont Region to prevent the possible occurrence of exceeding the daily PM10 limit value are displayed.

Finally, the app reports information relating to discomfort from heat waves for the provincial capitals and from ozone levels in the 4 regional macro-areas (two relating to the Alpine area and two to the plain-hill area).

Daily information is reported on the state of air quality observed in the last thirty days and forecast for the current day and the following two days in the regional territory. The information concerns the most critical pollutants in Piedmont, namely:
- PM10 particulate matter, of which the average daily concentration is displayed (the limit value is 50 μg/m³, not to be exceeded for more than 35 days per calendar year)
- PM2.5 particulate matter, of which the average daily concentration is displayed (the limit value exists only for the annual average concentration and is equal to 25 μg/m³)
- nitrogen dioxide NO₂, of which the maximum hourly average value is displayed (the limit value is 200 μg/m³, not to be exceeded for more than 18 hours per calendar year)
- ozone O₃ for which the maximum eight-hour moving average value is displayed (the target value is 120 μg/m³, not to be exceeded for more than 25 days per calendar year)
