About this app

The Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011 caused unprecedented damage in Otsuchi Town, with 4,167 houses partially destroyed and 1,286 dead and missing. We developed this app with the aim of continuing to pass on the records and lessons learned from the earthquake and tsunami to future generations, hoping that such tragic damage will never happen again.

Two symbolic buildings, the "Otsuchi Town Hall Old Government Office" which was severely damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and the "Old Minshuku Akabu" where Mayuri ran ashore, are located on the site where the buildings were dismantled. It is an application that you can see in AR (Augmented Reality) as it was immediately after the earthquake.
You can see the state of damage to buildings immediately after the earthquake, which cannot be seen with the naked eye today, and the height of the tsunami at that time.

【Feature Description】
◆Reconstruction of damaged buildings
If you hold your smartphone over the site where the building was demolished, the damage situation of the building immediately after the earthquake will be reproduced in AR.
◆ Display of tsunami height
By switching between displaying and hiding "Tsunami height" on the app screen, you can see the height of the tsunami at that time.
