On September 8, 1981, when we celebrate the birthday of St. Louis, was born Mirante FM. Founded by businessman Fernando Sarney Apple, the station was meant to make the difference in local broadcasting. Professionals like Joseph Aniesse Haickel, "Jerebinha" and Alberto Farias (in memoriam), Mr. Melody, Celso Borges, Marco Antonio Bogéa, Cristina Almeida, Coconut Jr. Edmilson Filho, César Roberto, Robson Junior, John Marcus, Dorgival Junior, Glaydson Botelho, Evandro Costa, Pedro Sobrinho, Rubinho Jonnes, among others, contributed to the Mirante FM a registered trademark and legitimized by success, serving all segments of society, without losing the essence: the air quality.

Time passed and along it the radio prefix changed (96.7 Mhz to 96.1 Mhz), new technologies emerged and were incorporated and new names came to compose the professional staff, who contribute every day to the story radio. The Mirante FM has in its casting speakers with very different profiles, some who started his career in radio as Nynrod Weber, Aécio Macchi and Heloisa Batalha, specialists in certain segments such as Hard Hair Bear and Werton Araujo, and others who emerged on the radio Maranhão as Amanda Couto and DJ Waldiney, and make room for the Social Communication Course trainees (Radialismo qualifications, Journalism and Advertising) of higher education institutions of Maranhão.

The Mirante FM is a pioneer in conducting entertainment events, sport, music and culture as the Gymkhana Lookout, the Summer Games, the Maranhense of Carnival Music Festival and the Lookout Space FM (space youth to enjoy backcountry and forró pé de serra within the camps) which also promote the visibility trademarks of their advertisers. The Mirante FM creates the best deals in Maranhão radio and led listeners to meet renowned artists such as The Paralamas do Sucesso, Rita Lee, Ivete Sangalo, Claudia Leitte, Scorpions, among others.

In 2012, Mirante FM repositions, becoming a radio station focusing on young adult audience, creating its own identity and keeping the musical quality. A new brand was created, more mature, strong, modern, striking and highlighting the dial 96.1.

The Mirante FM is in continuous process of adaptation and updating, investments, capacity building and professional renovation represent a symbiosis that keeps the FM Lookout informing accurately with credibility in the market and playing yesterday's and today's music, not to mention your 'natural habitat': Maranhão and everything produced in the arts within the state.
