About this app

Suppose you are flying at 10.000 feet and need to descend to 2.000 feet. Where do you begin your descent, or, you are 25 miles away from the runway, and need to descend from 8.000 feet to 1.000 feet. What should be your descent rate?

Many times during an aircraft flight, true ground speed differs from precomputed ground speed, so, during the flight is necessary to calculate how far we need to begin the descent or the descent rate from a specific distance. To avoid needing to go down at 3.000 feet/minute in a Cessna 150, to descend from the current altitude to runway or circuit altitude.

This App does not have Ads, and only Fine Location permissions are needed, for GPS reading.

Airplane Descent Calculator Pro allows you to:

- Calculate the distance in which the plane should begin the descent, for a specific descent rate (vertical speed) and ground speed (horizontal speed):
- Calculate the descent rate you need to go down from your current distance and altitude to the target altitude.
- Automatically get your current altitude and ground speed from the GPS
- Support Multiple Units:
Speed: Knot, km/h, Sm/h (mi/h)
Altitude: meters, feet
Vertical Speed: feet/min, mtr/sec
Distance: NM, Km, Sm (mi)

Muchas veces durante el vuelo de un avión, la velocidad real respecto al suelo difiere de la velocidad precalculada, por lo que, durante el vuelo es necesario calcular qué tan lejos necesitamos comenzar el descenso, o la tasa de descenso desde una distancia específica. Para evitar tener que bajar a 3.000 pies/minuto en un Cessna 150, para descender de la altitud actual a la altitud de la pista o del circuito.

Esta aplicación no tiene anuncios, y solo se necesitan permisos de ubicación precisa para la lectura del GPS.

Airplane Descent Calculator Pro le permite:

- Calcular la distancia en la que el avión debe iniciar el descenso, para un determinado régimen de descenso (velocidad vertical) y velocidad respecto al suelo (velocidad horizontal):
- Calcular la tasa de descenso que necesita para descender desde su posición y altitud actuales hasta la altitud objetivo.
- Obtener automáticamente su altitud y velocidad respecto al suelo actual desde el GPS
- Soporta múltiples unidades:
Velocidad: Nudo, km/h, Sm/h (mi/h)
Altitud: metros, pies
Velocidad vertical: pies/min, mtr/seg
Distancia: NM, Km, Sm (mi)

Although I can often guesstimate or calculate, this is a great aid to flight planning. Would love it if the app calculated automatically when relevant fields are populated. Not tried it on live flight - maybe the calculate button overcomes bump activation :-) 3 years on, it's still an essential part of my IFR & VFR EFB toolkit.

I use it with Flight Simulators. Ease of calculating rate of decent vs speed/current alt. etc. Very accurate for a smooth transition.
