About this app

Artsdatabanken's Artsorakel tries to identify species in images using artificial intelligence. Without an account and completely free.

When the app is used, the model says what it most resembles of the species it has been trained with. This means that it can only suggest species that are found in nature and that have been reported with images. It therefore only knows wild species (no humans, domestic animals, pure garden plants, etc.) and gives answers at the species level (and some subspecies).

The app is continuously improved using images from Artsobservasjoner.no, and the recognition model has been developed in collaboration with Naturalis Biodiversity Center. Images are sent to the server for recognition. Images and user information are not made available to Artsdatabanken or others.
