PDF Reader is a fast, private PDF reader and viewer for Android, with handy PDF tools built in. Open any PDF from your chat, email, cloud or files app and read it right on your device, where your files stay on your phone.

READ PDFS COMFORTABLY
• Smooth continuous scrolling through every page
• Pinch or double-tap to zoom up to 4x; the page is redrawn sharp when you stop
• A page counter (for example 12 / 40) and Go to page for long documents
• Night mode for easier reading in the dark
• Picks up on the page where you stopped, even after you close the app
• Tap the page to hide the bars and read full screen; the screen stays on while you read
• Keeps the open PDF and your exact place through rotation and screen resize
• Print a PDF (for PDFs that are not password-protected) or share a PDF with another app
• Password-protected PDFs open on Android 15 and later; earlier versions show an unsupported message

OPEN PDFS FROM ANY APP
• Tap Open PDF to choose a file with Android's system file picker, with no storage permission
• Or tap a PDF in your chat, email, cloud or files app and choose this app ("Open with" or "Share")
• Files from cloud and mail apps are fetched with a progress bar, and you can cancel
• Recent and Favorites keep the PDFs you open with Open PDF one tap away; files on your phone show a preview of their first page
• Star the files you need often, search your list by name, and continue reading where you left off
• A file that was moved or deleted, or shared by another app only for a while, is marked as unavailable, so you can find it again or remove it

The app lists only the PDFs you open with it. It does not scan your phone and does not ask for access to all your files or photos.

PDF TOOLS
• Scan to PDF: turn paper pages into a PDF with the document scanner from Google Play services (on supported phones)
• Images to PDF: turn up to 100 photos into one PDF, using the system photo picker
• Merge PDF: join two or more PDFs in the order you choose
• Split PDF: make a new PDF from the pages you pick, for example 1-3, 5
• Lock PDF: protect a PDF with a password (AES-256 encryption)
• Unlock PDF: enter the password of a PDF that asks for one and save a copy that opens without it
• Print PDF
Every new PDF is saved only where you choose. The app does not keep or log the passwords you type.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Your PDFs are opened and processed on your phone and are not uploaded
• Your recent files, favorites and reading positions stay on your phone, are left out of backup and device transfer, and are never sent anywhere
• No account and no sign-in
• No storage or photo permission, and no camera permission: you choose every file yourself

The app's screens are available in 11 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese and Arabic, with right-to-left support, and TalkBack labels throughout.

FREE, WITH ADS
PDF Reader is free and supported by ads. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent before showing ads, and you can change your choice under Privacy options in the app menu.
