Fraud Monitor blocks scam calls, warns you about scam texts, stops known scam websites from loading, spots fake online stores, and can let someone you trust know if a scam starts — all on your phone, and all optional.
BLOCK SCAM CALLS Fraud Monitor checks every incoming call against a list of more than 275,000 numbers reported for spam and fraud, held on your phone and updated daily. Known scam numbers are rejected before your phone rings, and anyone in your contacts always rings through. To do this, Fraud Monitor asks to be your default caller ID and spam app.
WARN ABOUT SCAM TEXTS Fraud Monitor checks incoming text messages against the same list of numbers, checks any links against its list of scam websites, and looks at the wording using a model that runs on your phone. If a message looks like a scam, you get a notification telling you why.
Fraud Monitor is NOT your messaging app. It cannot send, delete, hide or change any message.
Android does not let other apps read chat (RCS) messages. To check one, long-press it, tap Share and choose Fraud Monitor.
SPOT REMOTE-CONTROL SCAMS Scammers often ask you to install an app that lets them control your phone. Fraud Monitor warns you when one is installed — urgently if it follows a call from a number not in your contacts — and shows you how to remove it.
BLOCK SCAM WEBSITES Fraud Monitor blocks known scam and phishing sites in every browser and app on your phone.
To do this it uses a local VPN connection on the device. This is a filter, not a tunnel: there is no VPN server and none of your traffic is routed to us or through us. Only DNS lookups are inspected, each checked against a list of more than 550,000 scam domains stored on your phone, so the site you are visiting is never sent to us. Lookups not on the list go straight to a public DNS resolver. All other traffic is untouched.
Website protection is off until you switch it on, and can be switched off at any time.
FAMILY ALERTS (PREMIUM) Choose someone you trust and they get a short email if your phone shows signs of a scam: a remote-control app installed after an unknown call, a scam website blocked, or a protection switched off, plus a weekly summary. Nothing is sent until they confirm, and you can turn them off at any time. They never see your messages, contacts, calls or browsing.
CHECK ANYTHING YOURSELF Paste or share a phone number, a message or a website address, and Fraud Monitor tells you what it knows and why. Nothing you check is stored unless you report it.
SPOT FAKE ONLINE STORES A scam shop is usually too new to be on any list. So when you check a store's address, Fraud Monitor also reads the store itself for the signs of a fake shop — a brand name it doesn't own, no way to contact the seller, a permanent "closing down" sale, payment you can't dispute — and tells you why before you enter card details.
Also included: • Check a QR code before you follow it. • See whether your email address or password has turned up in a known breach.
BUILT TO SEE AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE • The blocklists are downloaded to your phone and checked there. • The wording of your texts never leaves your phone. • Contacts are read only so people you know are never blocked, and are never uploaded. • No call log permission: we cannot see who has called you. • Only a short list of remote-control apps is looked for, never your other apps. • No account and no sign-up. There is nothing to log in to.
