â€ĸ FryCheckâ„ĸ is a fast, accurate, and inexpensive way to test your oil quality and allows you to quickly decide when to change your oil. It helps you to maximize the useful life of your oil without compromising food quality and flavor.

The fats in frying oils can degrade with use to form many different products including epoxides, carboxylic acids, hydroperoxides, alcohols, aldehydes, and ketones. These degradation products are collectively referred to as Total Polar Compounds (TPC), and measuring their concentration in frying oil is considered the best way to determine when oil is “spent” and should be discarded. Many polar compounds impart unwanted flavors to food. Byproducts of prolonged deep frying are unhealthy. FryCheckâ„ĸ directly measures the TPC value of oil so you know when to replace unhealthy oil. FryCheckâ„ĸ can reduce your oil costs while ensuring food quality.

This companion app aids in the interpretation of the FryCheckâ„ĸ test strips to gain an objective result for the quality and TPC value of the oil. Utilizing color calibration, this app accounts for ambient conditions to provide an accurate and fast result that removes the biases and variability of reading by eye. The results can be annotated and stored in the app for later reference or tracking over time. To use the app, simply follow in the FryCheckâ„ĸ instructions for use provided with the test strips, select the camera icon in the app and snap a picture of the test strip when the timer runs out. The app will show the results as a numerical TPC value and a quality designation.
