The National Medical Oxygen Grid (NMOG) is a state-of-the-art IT platform for monitoring, tracking, and supporting data-based decision making, to ensure supply of high- quality medical oxygen to all parts of a country and help deal with any fluctuations in demand. Besides preparations for emergency situations, the NMOG will also ensure the availability of oxygen in non-pandemic scenarios and help to manage other clinical conditions. The NMOG would increase oxygen availability and access, and in accordance with the surge in oxygen demand mandated by COVID-19 outbreak, it would support reliable access to a comprehensive respiratory care treatment package. The list of activities that NMOG would support include but are not limited to the following broad areas: Demand management, Supply strengthening, Asset Management, Rational Use & Cost Analysis of Oxygen sources, Capacity Building and Policy Building.
This IT platform is available in both web portal version as well as phone app version.
To conceptualize and build resilient data systems for decision making and reporting, it is imperative to bring together rigorous thinking, and robust innovation. Going forward, strong inter- and intra-departmental relationships would be critical for catalyzing national and state level action, successful implementation of a resilient data system of oxygen access and strengthen decision making and governance mechanism across sectors.
Some of the ways in which NMOG will support health systems strengthening are as follows:
âĸ To study historical patterns of oxygen demand, supply, and consumption and would help in driving policy changes based on data captured.
âĸ As a predictive tool to forecast and plan for future demand of oxygen and beds.
âĸ Support the optimal and rational use of oxygen and oxygen sources.
âĸ As a global repository for oxygen capacity building tools such as clinical and technical.
âĸ guidelines and reports, training videos and posters, etc.
