Soundcool is an innovative system for collaborative music education at primary and secondary levels. The system is based on the use of smartphones, tablets, Kinect and the MAX/MSP/Jitter programming environment. Currently, Soundcool is being used at different educational institutions from Spain, Portugal, Italy and Romania through an EU-funded Erasmus+ project. Our system is a creative development environment that promotes sound and music creation by the students themselves. The pedagogical architecture of Soundcool is based on three music education scenarios that allow interaction between the various agents involved in the classroom. The digital “arrangements” developed with Soundcool by the students are controlled by themselves using mobile devices and the Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol.
Thus, this Soundcool OSC App provides a number of music control surfaces to control the Soundcool system (that runs on a central computer) via WiFi. The Soundcool system can be downloaded from the below developer website.
This app has been supported by Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation, Project 16-AC-2016 (9/2016-8/2019), Telefonica Foundation and the Universitat Politècnica de València, and the Generalitat Valenciana Grant AICO/2015/120.
