FA Notes — Private, On-Device Notes, To-Dos & Spreadsheets
FA Notes keeps your notes, to-do lists (Tasks), and spreadsheets on your device. No account, no login, no cloud sync in the background, and no ads. What you write stays with you.
The one exception is FT Assistant, the built-in AI co-pilot. Everything else happens locally.
THREE TOOLS IN ONE APP
- Notes: fast, flexible, and built for real typing
- Task Manager: to-do lists to track what actually needs doing
- Spreadsheets: rows, columns, and formatting, all on device
Start from a blank page or grab a template. There's Daily Journal, Goals, Meeting Notes, Project Planning, and a few HTML ones to get you moving.
🤖 FT ASSISTANT (YOUR AI CO-PILOT)
FT Assistant isn't a chatbot bolted on. It works inside your notes, tasks, and spreadsheets, and it can actually get things done: create, edit, summarize, back up, and delete notes, manage your to-do lists, and help build out spreadsheets.
You stay in control. FT Assistant asks before it views or changes anything, so nothing happens behind your back. You have the option to bring your own API key, which means you pick the AI service you trust most. It's your key, not mine. You can even give the Assistant a personality that suits you.
This is the only part of the app that sends anything off your device. When you ask FT Assistant for help, the content it needs is sent to the AI service you chose (for example, Google Gemini) to generate a reply. Never use it, and nothing ever leaves your phone.
🔒 STRAIGHT TALK ON PRIVACY & ENCRYPTION
Privacy is the whole point here, so here's the honest version instead of marketing fluff:
- Your notes live on your device, not on a server I control.
- Individual notes are not encrypted. They're stored locally, so their safety depends on your device's own security, like your lock screen. You can password-protect a note to hide its contents, but the note text itself isn't encrypted.
- The Base64 encode/decode tool is a fun way to scramble text. It is NOT real encryption. Anyone can decode it, so don't use it to hide anything sensitive.
- Full backups are the secure part. When you back up your entire notes list, it's encrypted, either automatically with Google Tink or with a custom password you set. (Heads up: exporting a single note as a .fanote file is not encrypted.)
Short version: the app stays local, full backups are properly encrypted, and I won't pretend individual notes are something they aren't.
✍️ FORMATTING & TEXT TOOLS
In notes, format as you type: ** for bold, _ for italics, ~ for strikethrough. Task lists and spreadsheets work a little differently but have their own options. Spreadsheets support bold, italics, alignment, fill color, text color, sizing, and more.
There's a stack of smaller note tools built in: Find & Replace, character and word count, Reading Mode, a built-in HTML viewer, Text-to-Speech, Speech-to-Text, a date and timestamp inserter, text color and size, Undo/Redo, uppercase and lowercase converters, and reverse text.
🎨 MATERIAL 3 EXPRESSIVE DESIGN
FA Notes is built with Material 3 Expressive and dynamic color, so it picks up your system theme and feels at home on your device. Full Dark Mode included, with smooth animations and a layout that stays out of your way.
