O aplikaciji

Are you a fish lover? Observing them in the water, having them on your plate or just being curious? Then the FishBase Guide developed by Q-quatics in collaboration with Mundus maris, Fair Fish International and the Sea Around Us is the app to have.

Type in your country and the name of the fish you have in front. The app will show you the minimum size at maturity; that is the size at which the fish is big enough to start reproducing. You’ll also see the optimum size – to produce the maximum catch sustainably. The fish icon with traffic light colours shows you its status on the IUCN Red List, where "threatened" embraces the categories of Critically Endangered, Endangered, and Vulnerable; together with “near threatened” these categories are signalled in red.

Want to know more or share an observation? Click on the link to the full summary of the species in FishBase. It can work for you whether you are a fisher, trader, buyer, teacher or ‘just’ a fish lover. Easy. Enjoy.

Sigurnost podataka

This version includes an update to the species data with some minor fixes for improved filtering, and language support by Google Translate.

Body weights are now included to complement the lengths.

The IUCN Red List status replaces the vulnerability indicator, showing the conservation status of the species.

The search can be by common names used in a country and elsewhere or scientific names (valid or even synonyms still in use) of the species recorded for the selected country.
