Meaning of all the flags of the LGBTQIA+h collective
The term known today as LGBTIQA+H emerged in the 1990s to replace the term 'homosexual' and include the rest of gender identities and sexual orientations other than heterosexual, which was, due to certain ideologies and historically, the only legitimate one. The activism of different organizations and platforms has been key to tearing down the walls that oppress a very large sector of the population. Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go in the fight for the acceptance of non-normative gender identities. *First of all, we must start from the fact that many human beings do not identify with normative sexual orientation and gender identity.

Here we explain the difference between sex, gender and sexuality. Today, the different orientations and identities that do not correspond to the heterosexual cisgender are included in the acronym LGBTIQA+H, although LGBT, LGBT+ and LGBTIQ+ are still used as valid.
