About this app

1. Overview

Morse Code - text and audio is an educational application entirely developed in English, designed to teach and convert Morse code through two integrated modalities:

Text → Morse conversion (visual learning)

Morse → Audio playback (auditory learning)

The App provides a clean, pedagogical environment ideal for:

beginners learning Morse code,

students in introductory communication systems,

hobbyists,

and digital literacy programs.

The App was created inside the GTED – Grupo de Tecnologias Educacionais Digitais (UFFS), consolidating the University’s participation in mobile educational innovation under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Carlos Roberto França.

2. Educational Rationale

Morse code is historically tied to:

information theory

communication systems

cryptography

digital transmission via binary signals

Teaching it effectively requires dual-coding (visual + auditory), and the app achieves exactly isso:

Visual mode: displays dots and dashes with spacing that reinforces symbolic structure.

Audio mode: plays correct Morse timing, promoting auditory recognition and decoding.

This aligns with standard Morse timing:

dot: 1 unit

dash: 3 units

intra-letter spacing: 1 unit

inter-letter spacing: 3 units

3. Interface and User Experience (Screens Provided)
✔ Home Screen

Title: Morse code/text and audio converter

Buttons in high-contrast layout:

Clean typographic header

Color palette:

blue/black for control buttons

green layout bands for thematic distinction

white workspace for output readability

✔ Text → Morse Conversion Screen

(Screenshot “Life is good” → dotted output)

Any English sentence is instantly translated into Morse notation.

Output uses red dot/dash vector format, making it visually strong and easy to follow.

Large blank area ensures visibility even on tablets (as shown in iPad screenshots).

✔ Audio Playback Screen

Converts typed text to audible Morse pulses.

Enables training of auditory decoding and rhythm recognition.

✔ Morse Table (Reference Screen)
