Because we believe that art activates the imagination and the way we see and think about the world in which we live, BIENALSUR builds a community that claims the right to culture with the conviction that from it it is possible to give visibility to other rights .
Artists, curators and institutions of the world come together to redouble actions and dynamically take on contemporary challenges and invite us to imagine possible futures together. For this reason, BIENALSUR integrates and simultaneously tries to connect audiences, artists and spaces from the five continents. We seek to establish a global network of associative collaboration that contributes to diluting distances and borders (real and symbolic) and defends the singularity in diversity, the local in the global.
BIENALSUR includes works and projects selected as a result of open international calls. We also chose some key artists to help reinforce one of the central objectives of our project: to include diverse actors and expand audiences by proposing to think with images and aesthetic experiences. We are committed to building new bridges for dialogue with art and culture; making each art space a place of thought. This declaration guides the selection of artistic projects that contribute to opening our perspectives to reflect on and develop a contemporary humanism.
