Honestly, as cool as the concept is you can tell its run completely by AI. The avatar can't even sign basic colors or days of the week, all it does is fingerspell. When it does occasionally use the proper sign for a word, it still isn't very accurate. As a fellow ASL learner I wouldn't recommend this app for anything but basic translation in quick conversation. It feels like it falls short of its potential, and unless you want to pay a bunch of money for premium, it's virtually unusable.

Had the opportunity to use the app with someone who is deaf. The person used a pen and pad, I used "Hugo". The app allowed for work to get done with little misunderstanding. Our interaction went so much faster and much more accurate. The person was pleased with Hugo. They were able to obtain so much more info than by me writing it. The downside is that sometimes it hears me wrong. It causes confusion. Easy fix though! Just repeat yourself. Overall, it's an awesome app!!!

The app has a good concept and beautiful setup, but the characters don't always translate the words given. I did simple sentences, and from the small amount I've learned from ASL, some of this doesn't appear to be correct. Also, I know this app is free, but including ads every five seconds will not help anybody learn. Also, where are the characters facial expressions? They appear to be quite blank looking. Maybe this is just how I feel, but the app is not for me.
