The compass accuracy depends on having an undistorted magnetic field around your device. If you use it close to metallic objects or electrical equipment, directional accuracy may be impaired. The device’s compass accuracy can be optimised by calibrating it prior to use.

I used this app on iDevices and several Android phones. It's pretty awesome, especially the camera view. Unfortunately there is no way to correct if the calibration is off. With several devices the sun location was noticeably off. I bought two other apps doing the same thing and both of them are accurate on my device. So it's not my phone that's bad. If only they had a way to let you dial in a correction value.

The app allows you to go into Gyropscope mode simply by dragging the screen in 3D view. This allows you to set whatever manual heading adjustment you may need.

I've enjoyed using this app a lot over the years, but as of the last month or so, there's no longer a way to change to gyroscope mode (setting the sun location rather than relying on the phone compass), at least that I can find. My phone compass is not great, so it makes the app basically unusable, at least in the 3D mode, which is the most important part.

Great App. I just miss having the "Moon Seeker" compannion app that is available for Apple iOS but strangely not available for Android!?! Having an app to Find the location of the moon in the sky is more useful for photographers, especially because with the naked eye it's difficult to see where the moon is during the 7 days between "new moon" and waxing Gibbous (half moon), because the moon rises at the same time as the sun on our horizon and the sun usually outshines the "new moon". Please 🙏
