About this app

Community Forest Rights (CFR) is an initiative by Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) an environmental research institute based in Bengaluru. ATREE’s Centre for Environment and Development works on enabling sustainable, livelihood enhancing, and democratic forest governance. CFR works at a national level as well as in sites in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana.

This app is a part of a freely accessible GIS-based Decision Support system that can be used both by the district administration and by the local community to accurately map and claim CFR areas, resolve boundary disputes, and plan forest resource use. The app can be used to create GPS tracks of CFR claim areas and upload them to the webGIS to eventually integrate them into official records.

Our work in the Bastar district is supported by the Bastar District Administration. Coding support for this app has been provided by Omni-Bridge Solutions and ATREE's webGIS team.

The application has the following features:

• Track Path: Using this module user can collect GPS coordinates either in automatic mode(fix time interval) or in manual mode(at will) which plots automatically on the background map layer. Once the user finishes tracking, the app will show tracked path preview with area & distance measurements.
• Path History: You can access saved KML files from the path history section.
• Language Change: you can able to use applications in 2 languages either English or Hindi.
• Screenshot: You can take a screenshot and able to do share it to external applications or save it to phone memory.
• Help Guide: You can refer help guide to understand the use case of the CFR application. Help guide available in Hindi and English language.
