GENERAL INFORMATION
Host country is the Dominican Republic and its capital is Santo Domingo. In terms of area and population, it is the second largest and most diverse country in the Caribbean.
The country is located in the eastern part of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with Haiti, occupying a little more than two-thirds of the island. It limits to the north with the Atlantic Ocean, to the south with the Caribbean Sea or Sea of the Antilles, to the east with the Mona Channel and to the west with Haiti.
The Dominican Republic is a democratic republic, made up of 31 provinces and a National District.
Visa requirements
Most visitors who arrive to the Dominican Republic by air, including those who come from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Mexico, many countries in South America, Central America, Japan, Israel, etc. They do not need a visa to enter the country. Every foreign citizen who enters the Dominican Republic, exclusively for tourist purposes, must have a valid passport during their stay and departure from the country.
The Dominican Republic issues tourist, business, work, student and residence visas. Tourist visas can be issued for single or multiple entries. Anyone, regardless of nationality, can visit the Dominican Republic if they are a legal resident of or, if they have one of the following valid visas in their passport: United States, Canada, United Kingdom or Schengen. Travelers who do not have a passport or visa from the countries mentioned above or other authorized countries must apply for a visa. To issue a visa, the passport must be valid for at least six (6) months.
