About this app

Synapse is a straightforward note app built for writing down whatever comes to mind. No account, no ads, and your notes never leave your device.

WRITE THE WAY YOU THINK

• Free-form notes or checklists you can tick off

• Switch between text and list with one tap — nothing you wrote is lost

• Drag list items to reorder; completed ones move to the bottom on their own

• Press Enter and the next item opens

GET ORGANISED

• Labels, each with its own colour and icon

• Colour your notes and pin the important ones to the top

• Filter by label, search across notes and lists

• Grid or list view; sort by last edited, date created or colour

REMEMBER ON TIME

• Set a day and time on any note

• Overdue reminders stand out in a different colour

• Your reminders survive a restart

WORK IN BULK

• Long-press to select several notes at once

• Pin, archive, label, duplicate or share them in one go

• Undo anything you did by mistake

YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS

• Export a backup to a single file and restore it whenever you like

• Restoring adds to your notes rather than replacing them

• Automatic backup: daily or weekly to a folder you choose

• Pick a folder that syncs to the cloud and your backup goes there too

DELETED ISN'T GONE

• Deleted notes wait in the trash

• You decide how long: 7, 14 or 30 days

• Archive keeps things around without crowding your main screen

SMALL THINGS THAT HELP

• Share text from another app and save it straight as a note

• Long-press the app icon to start a new note or a new list

• Turn off autosave and save manually if you prefer

• Light and dark theme, or follow your device

PRIVACY

Synapse has no server. Your notes live in a local database on your device. The app doesn't even request internet permission. It contains no ad network, no analytics and no crash reporting.

The only times data leaves your device are ones you start: creating a backup file, sharing a note, or Android's own device backup. None of them happen on their own.
