About this app

Serve the Lord with gladness; come before his presence with singing - Psalm 100:2 (NKJV)

The Basel Mission Church in Malabar has a wealth of hymns relying heavily on scripture endowed by our spiritual parents. The songs explain our beliefs, prayers, thankfulness, reverence and hope in the Saviour. The first tune book of Malayalam Hymnal of the Church in Malabar was published in 1912. Then in 1966, the Tune Book containing music with the text of one stanza of every hymn was prepared by E. M. Selvaraj, former Organist of CSI Cathedral, Calicut. This laborious task was being entrusted to E. M. Selvaraj in continuation of an initial move of compiling a revised hymnal with music notation written by H. Knobloch and J. M. Powers prompted by the Basel Mission leaders in Malabar. Because of the limitations of the 1966 Tune Book, it became necessary to have a complete revision of the Tune Book. E. M. Selvaraj once again took over the mission of arranging the music of hundreds of hymns to revised harmony and the new Tune Book was published in 2003, which is in current use in our Churches. It has music with lyrics. It is pertinent to point out the dedication and determined effort of E. M. Selvaraj in bringing out the Tune Book in 1966 and 2003.

Praphul Louis Amos came forward to take up the assignment of re-modifying the Tune Book with music notation for all stanzas of the song in order to sing from sight. For many years he has been involved in music as a violinst and has taken great effort in sucessfully accomplishing this task. I am glad to see that notations are included with the lyrics of each song printed using modern print technology makes it easy to read.

I praise God for His grace showered upon CSI Diocese of Malabar in preparing a Malayalam Hymns Music App. This has become possible as a result of long term effort. This awesome App is user friendly and comes with lots of characteristics. The Diocese of Malabar extends its gratitude to Roshan David Jathanna, Praphul Louis Amos, Rohith Shone George, Pradeep Jenvi, Johnson George who worked for this App and to everyone who contributed to this.

May God bless everyone who uses this App for spiritual needs.
