The group behind the DS-1 standard has created this Drillstring Toolbox! It's a free calculator that will tell you what the API-recommended makeup torque is for drill-stem connections with whatever sizes you want to plug in. It'll also give you the tensile capacities of that connection. Swipe to the right and you'll find tensile and torsion capacities for drillpipe tubes, too!

It's been a while, but we've updated the Drillstring Toolbox app to match API Specification 7-2's updated dimensions and preferred / non-preferred categories (check the settings button).
