In 1997, some friendly people from the city of São João Batista do Glória/MG got together to found a radio station, which would have to be “community” as it would be the only way, that is, there was no , “commercial radio channel” open to São João Batista do Glória. There was then, to house the radio communication vehicle, the need to create the ACBC – Community, Charitable and Cultural Association of São João Batista do Glória?MG.
Meetings were held in order to complete the necessary documentation for the Issuer's Operating Grant with the Ministry of Communications and ANATEL. Such an authorization document was not easy because the entire country was interested in it, which meant it had to be waited for a long, indefinite period of time!
On April 21, 1998, Rádio Colina FM went on air, on a frequency of 106.1 MHz, as it was not known what its official frequency would be, the one offered by the Ministry of Communications and ANATEL. The radio operated providing its services to the community of São João Batista do Glória until 2001, having its activities interrupted due to some setbacks, mainly the “lack of authorization for the station to operate”.
From the beginning of assembling the documentation required by the regulatory bodies of the radio radiating system, there were considerable expenses, as many meetings and documents, as well as trips to the country's capital - Brasília, in order to achieve the aim, until in the middle of the In 2005, the Ministry of Communications and ANATEL issued the “Grant for the Operation of Rádio Colina FM, on the 87.9 MHz frequency”, a document endorsed by the Brazilian National Congress, signed by its president, Senator José Sarney. Rádio Colina FM was authorized to operate legally in the municipality of São João Batista do Glória-MG.
The studio (generation) and the radiating system of Rádio Colina FM were installed on Rua Goiânia and were briefly transferred to Avenida Florianópolis, nº 108 – Jd. Plateau, the highest point, in the city of São João Batista do Glória-MG, where he remained until the second half of 2021. On this date there was a need for greater integration with the community and his studio moved to the city center, Avenida Avelino Soares de Resende, nº 64, but its radiating system continued at the old address, Avenida Florianópolis, nº 108, Jd. Highland.
As stated, Rádio Colina FM since its first day of operation, still informally, to this day, maintains a provision of services aimed at the interest of the community, especially when referring to institutions and people who depend on what it, the radio, can offer, which is communication, promotions, campaigns, entertainment, etc. Even though there is no public, municipal, state or federal subsidy, Rádio Colina FM fulfills its role, that of interviewing and making all the disclosures requested.
The radio maintains itself financially, solely and exclusively, through sponsorship from companies, in a legal manner and as set out in the law on community radios; With these, it fulfills its obligations, which are: rent, collaborators or employees, electricity, water, telephones, internet, website, cleaning materials, accounting office, taxes, equipment and its maintenance, losses due to bad weather, etc.
