The base is an application of psychological help and support for the mental health of veterans and military personnel. It is a comprehensive tool that contains self-help exercises based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques and other evidence-based methods, including:
Breathing Practices: A Universal Tool for Managing Stress and Anxiety.
Grounding and Relaxation Techniques: Exercises to regain composure, connection with reality, and peace in the most difficult moments.
Mood Tracker: Track your moods and thoughts with an emotion diary. This tool will help identify patterns and trends in conditions and their impact on well-being.
Meditation: Choose your meditation to relax and stabilize your mental state. Listen to meditations at any time to overcome restless thoughts and take care of yourself.
These exercises are carefully selected by psychologists so that you can provide yourself with initial psychological support and better understand your conditions.
The base also has additional features such as:
Crisis button: A quick response function to help you quickly adjust your condition when "covering".
Thought Recording: Record your thoughts to facilitate emotional state, express feelings, analyze thoughts and beliefs.
Personalized plan: Save your favorite exercises in "Favorites" and create your own profile of a daily self-help plan with the set of tools that are right for you.
In addition to practical exercises, the Base contains many educational materials about mental health, including anxiety, the effects of mild traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, sleep problems, depression, obsessive thoughts, and PTSD. With the help of Baz, you will learn how to manage your own emotions, cope with anxiety, anger, depression, guilt, what to do with panic attacks and how to improve your well-being with the help of breathing.
The database was created in cooperation with veterans in order to better understand their needs, so the application contains the necessary materials to support and improve the mental health of servicemen who are (on active duty) in the army, as well as those who have returned to civilian life.
In addition, the Baza application has useful contacts for veterans and military personnel, as well as the ability to contact a psychotherapist and receive a timely response to the request.
The database provides users with the opportunity to remain anonymous and provide personal data only at their own request.
Although the Base's primary audience is veterans, the app is a useful resource for anyone looking to improve their mental health. Educational materials and tools are universally useful and applicable for everyone.
It is important to note that the "Base" application is not a panacea and does not replace professional psychotherapy. Instead, it offers an opportunity for veterans and military personnel to better understand their conditions and be able to provide themselves with initial psychological support.
The application was created by the public organization "Psychological support and rehabilitation "Free Choice", which has been working in the field of veteran affairs since 2015. The mission of "Free Choice" is to provide psychological support to veterans, military men and their families using evidence-based psychotherapy methods.
This project was made possible by the IREX Veterans Reintegration Program.
