The Beekeeper/Varroa App is a comprehensive beekeeping app with all the features necessary for beekeeping and beekeeping.
The app has an interface to the Varroa weather and the Forchtnet (Forest Network) and displays their location-based data based on the currently selected location.
The app runs synchronously with all data on Android devices, as well as in internet browsers on PCs or Apple devices (iPhone, etc.).
The basic functions of the Varroa App include location and colony management, allowing you to create any number of locations with any number of colonies.
Handwriting hive cards is largely a thing of the past with this app. All beekeeping activities (Varroa infestation, treatment, feeding, weights, breeding characteristics, and much more) are automatically entered into the hive card and can also be evaluated digitally and graphically.
It supports beekeepers in determining Varroa infestation, assessing Varroa infestation, and treating colonies against the Varroa mite.
The assessment takes into account not only the beekeeper's own colonies but also the environmental influences, i.e., the Varroa infestation of other colonies within the bees' flight radius.
The assessment and treatment advice are based on the Bavarian Varroa Treatment Concept and take into account the different stages of the infestation (winter, spring, summer, reinvasion).
The infestation is determined using either the garbage diagnosis, the leaching method, or the powdered sugar method. The examined colonies are displayed on the home page in traffic light colors (red, yellow, green).
Three menus: the main menu, the location menu, and the colony menu offer numerous functions.
These include treatment advice, location-specific hive scale weights from the nearest scale, and the ability to manage the colony yourself and even relocate it.
Also integrated is a management of Varroa treatments with automatic maintenance of a legally compliant, site-specific inventory log (required by law).
The characteristics of each colony (queen, docileness, swarming behavior, yield, and much more) can be defined and tracked.
Treatment instructions are provided according to the Bavarian Varroa Treatment Concept, which is developed and published by the Institute of Apiculture and Beekeeping at the Bavarian State Research Center for Viticulture and Horticulture (LWG).
The location coordinates are stored in the location management system, but are used exclusively for the app functions described above. No one (except the database administrator) has access to this data and no one can view or evaluate it. Address data is not stored.
A direct link to the 'Varroa Weather' also displays, based on the location, the weather forecast and weather-related treatment options using approved treatment agents. This display is shown separately for brood-free colonies and for colonies with brood.
A web version is available at https://varroa-app.de, which runs in all common internet browsers, including iOS devices. The Android and web versions use the same data, meaning users can switch between the versions at will, whether on the go or at home, and the most up-to-date data is always available.
