It's a cheap way to change the restricted settings on your ebike, but definitely not easy. If you have a new bike and a recent version of Android, you'll have extra steps and troubleshooting. Ideally the troubleshooting steps need to be added to the main instructions as you will come across all of them. For me, downgrading the bike firmware and making the change went mostly ok with some troubleshooting, but I had problems re-updating the firmware afterwards and still get bike errors.

It worked beautifully for me, but the part with downgrading of the firmware was a little bit a shot in the dark. The description is not 100% clear on how to proceed for updating with the bike connected. I was connected to the bike, had to turn on WiFi on the phone[which was turn off in previously] and press update in the E-tube app. The dedicated update screen! it didn't ask me to update. Then it went to v.5.0.x and I wasn't sure if this was now updating from the Shimano server. it worked!OK!EP8

Very good app. I'm virtually computer illiterate, and I managed to use the instructions to sort out my ebike. Admittedly with a few emails, which were quickly & helpfully responded to. I also managed to pay for two licenses, when only needing one. This was swiftly sorted, and refund arranged. Highly recommended.
