cant get past the ads. app loads, I hit skip, get locked at the screen after as theres no X or arrows or what have you to exit the ad and continue the game.

Thanks for your feedback! You need to change the button layout to gestures on your phone so that the buttons don't overlap the cross to skip ads. There are many more updates and new adventures ahead. Enjoy the game!
