About this app

Damaged Note is Japan's first application for chronic pain research developed by Juntendo University.
Japanese people tend to endure pain, and in mild cases, it often becomes severe without seeing a medical institution. It is also said that pain is intensified by the effects of weather, stress, and insomnia. This app evaluates chronic pain, depression, and sleep disorders by simultaneously collecting information such as pain and depressed mood in daily life, sleep disorders and exercise amount, and weather information that cannot be observed only by medical examinations at such hospitals. I am trying to do it.
In addition, by using the app, not only will it be useful for self-medication of chronic pain by recording and visualizing changes in pain, but it will also lead to the investigation of exacerbating factors of chronic pain by analyzing the collected information with big data. I am aiming. It is expected to be used not only by patients with chronic pain but also by potential chronic pain reserve groups who do not go to the hospital, and a big data study on chronic pain shows that patients with chronic pain are hindered by pain. It may lead to the improvement of quality of life (QOL) and the underlying results for reducing socio-economic loss.
If you are interested, we would be grateful if you could consider participating.
[Development background]
While pain is difficult for anyone other than the person concerned to understand, Japanese people tend to endure a little pain and are very likely not to see a medical institution. Currently, it is said that the prevalence of chronic pain in Japan is 13.4%, which is about 17 million people, and there is a survey result that 77.6% of them do not improve their pain.
Chronic pain is caused by a complex combination of all factors, including pain caused by inflammation and irritation, pain caused by nerve damage, and pain caused by psychosocial factors. People who suffer from chronic pain have a significant decrease in quality of life due to the pain, which is a major obstacle to their daily lives. Until now, it was said that it was difficult to observe the behavior of daily life (exercise, sleep, weather, etc.), but with the development of information technology, the possibility of solving such problems has greatly increased. Big data research approaches have the potential to simply answer the many scientific questions faced by various epidemiological studies. On the other hand, by recording the user's local weather, daily activities, and pain diary together, it is possible to take personalized measures against chronic pain. This app was developed as an app that is close to people suffering from chronic pain.
[Characteristics of damaged notebook]
■ Application name: Damaged note
(1) By linking information on daily life (exercise amount, sleep, weather, etc.) with the face scale of pain to visualize changes in pain and use it as a "pain diary", it is useful for prevention of aggravation and self-control of pain. increase.
(2) Feed back the evaluation of chronic pain, sleep disorders and depression to the app user.
(3) By analyzing the collected information with big data, it will be possible to investigate the exacerbating factors of chronic pain.
[About data handling]
The research results and collected data obtained through cooperation may be published in academic conferences and journals in order to be useful for research on chronic pain. We may also use the data collected for this study for another study or development (if it is not yet planned or expected, but will require very important consideration in the future).
