I'm learning CW and am going directly to head copy, rather than pencil copy. The app is great because I can put in earbuds and practice anywhere. The only obvious feature that seems to be missing is variable word length with a user-specified max number of characters per word. I would like the challenge of variable word lengths, but with a maximum of 3 to 5 characters per word. Anything more is just too challenging for me to head copy.

I tried a lot of morse code apps. The best feature about this one is you can set it to speak the letters to you after playing the code. You don't have to watch the screen to see if you are correct. It is hands free. This has helped me hear the sound of the letter and not the individual dits and dahs. Options for speed, character spacing and word spacing. Letters, callsigns, qso's and custom text.

I don't know how many cw apps I tried, but this one is handsdown my favorite by far. I can tweak it every which way, to make it do exactly what I want. I actually bought the pay version. I just put my earbuds in and let it go. If I miss a bunch I just pick it up when I can. This thing is great. From one letter as far as you want to go.
