Sadly, NHK has decided to end support for accessing Easy News from outside of their website. They now require agreeing to access their website from inside of Japan and articles are not available otherwise. This is not something I can work around without violating terms of service.

This is the end of Sync for NHK Easy News. I will leave the app on the store for a bit longer, but it will be removed unless NHK opens access again.

I'm grateful to NHK for allowing access for as long as they did. Their translators work hard every day providing this useful resource. For now, it's still possible to access News Web Easy directly from their website, so please visit directly in a browser if you would like to continue reading NHK Easy articles.

Sync for NHK Easy News is a free and simple app for reading Japanese news articles from NHK News Web Easy. The articles are a great resource for learning upper-beginner to intermediate level Japanese using real-world content.

Ratings and reviews

Simply an amazing app for Japanese learners, and I'd say it's dang near indispensable. EDIT: The dev added an option to cap the number of articles the app syncs, so now I truly have no criticisms. I still wouldn't mind optional ads or some way to donate! This is one of my all-time favorite learning apps for sure.

Quite happy with it. I haven't tried the video or audio too much, but great UI. Can click on words for definitions. Choose to not display furigana for specific words, etc.

Very useful with offline files and dictionary. The app desparately needs an option to automatically clean out old articles. Storage size grows and grows.
