About this app

This most-downloaded app from Hazelden Publishing offers daily thoughts, meditations, and prayers for those in recovery from alcohol and other drugs.

Since 1954, the words of Twenty-Four Hours a Day have become a stable force in the recovery of many individuals throughout the world. With more than 6.5 million copies of the text in print, Twenty-Four Hours a Day offers guidance for those living without alcohol or other drugs. Millions rely on these words as a spiritual resource that has practical applications to fit the daily life of those in recovery.

Part of the Sanskrit proverb quoted in the app, “For yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision,” has become one of the basic building blocks for a life of sobriety. In addition to a thought, meditation, and prayer for each day of the year, this app also contains the Serenity Prayer, the Twelve Steps, and the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous. Twenty-Four Hours a Day is a simple yet effective aid to help anyone relate the Twelve Steps to everyday life and will help those in AA or NA find the power to stay sober.

I love this little book as well as the app. just a few weeks ago I lost my phone, got a new one and had to pay for the download of the app, not very cool but in today's world I need to remember where I came from and be grateful that it doesn't cost more. I struggle with changing my life but the real issue is the un-learning of my childhood drama and the way I perceived life back then, not so much learning as replacing new thoughts and ideas with my old ones from all the years past. Love the app

I like that I can select a time for the push notification(s). I like that I can swipe to the next or previous day or select from a calendar. Would like date to be part of select-all for journaling-copy-paste or add a journaling feature. Another thought....it would be interesting to have a searchable topical cross reference or index. It might take some study to develope. It could also have a reference to the step(s) that apply. As it stands, using it for a daily reflection as intended is perfect.

Delighted to find this app as I have been reading "Twenty-Four Hours" for many years of my sobriety. (Alas, my copy of the little black book had become quite ragged with dog ears, paper clips, post-its, obituary clippings of fellow alcoholics, marginal notes and coffee stains.) The app has not disappointed! It is faithful to the book, has an excellent search feature and allows one to save favorite readings. The only addition to this app I would recommend is a notes feature. Mike.
