You've just escaped a toxic relationship and moved to Boulder: hippie mecca (and home of the University of Colorado) a mere forty minutes north of Denver, at the edge of the majestic Rocky Mountains' Front Range. And while you want to take in everything your new town has to offer: the outdoors, hip cafes, politics, and New Age healing: looking for love is foremost in your mind.

Ratings and reviews

This is definitely a unique hosted games/CoG title. Personally, I really enjoyed the premise and its originality. I love games that have magic, heroes, etc., but there's something nice about playing with real-life scenarios. This game has a large focus on the player's character and (obviously) relationships, so it's going to feel quite different for most readers. I like how memorable the romance options were, and all the different scenes that played out. Not quite understanding the reviews that say you can't be moderate/conservative. It IS a liberal game set in a liberal city, but I really didnt notice a strong political affiliation/stance in the player's character either way. There is one scene where you can choose to be liberal or more conservative, but it's very, very brief. I enjoyed the game a lot, but I do agree with other reviewers that didn't like the fact that occasionally your character would do something by his/herself, where you couldn't make choices, that impacted what happened next or the relationship. Overall, it's a great title, appropriate length and difficulty, and has some interesting concepts and choices to explore. Not as much action as other titles, of course, since you're a regular person in Boulder and not an assassin or space pirate... or a space pirate assassin. Still, if you like more laid-back, romance-heavy games, give it a go. The author is very talented at writing emotion, has original diction (especially as spicier scenes go), and offers some effective lighthearted humor.

On the first playthrough, I enjoyed the game. The setting was in depth, the story was pretty long and the love interests all seemed interesting. Once I played it a second time though, I was thoroughly disappointed. The story is completely reused for the love interests. Other than a few minor differences, it was pretty much copy pasted. Everything from the dates to the sex scenes to the family issues. It was completely reused. That is some serious lazy writing and completely ruined it for me. It's a decent playthrough once, but dont even bother replaying. Total waste.

I honestly wish I could write a more positive review for this game. There are actually tons of things I loved about it, such as all of options for gender and sexuality, which is something that I really appreciate. The weak point is the story itself; I frequently felt that my choices and stats weren't reflected in how the game played out. The worst instance of this was near the end, where there were entire paragraphs of text and choices I was forced to make in regards to a character that I had chosen to ignore and had exchanged maybe two words with the entire game. So my review is a mixture of genuine liking of the premise and some of the world building choices, and serious reservations around the games playability due to disjointed storytelling.
