About this app

The innovative NexPTG paint thickness gauge with a dedicated application is a modern solution for every user. The device is designed for measuring automotive sheet metal (Automotive industry).

Smartwatch
The gauge has a dedicated application available on Wear OS watches. The app exclusively works with PRO Carbon devices.
The app allows:
- automatic search and connection with the NexPTG device,
- indicating the measurement value, substrate detection, measurement interpretation,
- creation a short history of measurements and browsing it,
- insight into measuring statistics,
- calibration of the NexPTG device.

Customized bodies
NexPTG application includes 100+ dedicated car bodies in addition to standard bodies.
Making the measurement process more realistic. Personalize the report to the customer's needs with a realistic representation of the measured vehicle.

Voice commands
The function allows you to perform the appropriate actions in the NexPTG application thanks to voice commands. Allows you to call the selected function without using the smartphone screen.

QR, EAN, OCR reader
The function allows you to scan the VIN number using the smartphone's built-in camera. It is available in the vehicle data report tab.

Gallery widget
All NexPTG gauges have access to the function of superimposing measurement parameters on photos, taken with the help of a widget. The photographs are available in the Gallery tab.

Dedicated report
Allows you to present data in a more accessible way. All measurements are placed in tables and compared with each other using the symmetric measurement table. Both external and internal components can be measured.
The measurement sets function allows you to customize the location of the measured points as desired.

I was impressed with an overall concept of having an app on the mobile device to guide the measurements and capture the results in reports. However, I noticed some essential points that are candidates for improvement, and I'd like to share these observations/feedback: 1) Reading the measurements/reports in the app When the app starts, by default it starts looking for the gauge device. If I don't want to do any measurements, but simply study the existing reports, my only option is to go into the Demo mode. However, in this case the app starts demoing and peeping, which is quite annoying. Please add another choice on the start screen - to simply go into the app for reading existing reports. Searching for gauge device should be disabled in this case. 2) Comparison of left the right sides of the car in measurement reports The measurement reports are awesome and they provide a detailed view on the coating thickness at every measurement point. However, the first logical application of the measurement results is to compare the values with their counterparts on the other side of the car. For example, after measuring the coating thickness at point 3 on the LEFT FRONT FENDER, the first thing I want to do is to compare it with the corresponding value of the same point on the RIGHT FRONT FENDER. However, as of now, these points have different numbering (3 on the LEFT FRONT FENDER and 2 on the RIGHT FRONT FENDER) and they are located on different pages of the report (page 2 and 3). The ask here is to add additional pages to the report that would compare the values of the symmetrical measurement points (e.g. left and right car sides) directly.

Hello, 1.The solution is to set the meter as default (tab "Settings" - button at the bottom of the list). You will be able to view reports and the entire application without connecting to the meter (DEMO mode is the second solution). 2.The numbering of the points is done for the process of measuring the entire car, but we'll prepare something else.

Really fantastic customer service and the equipment/app is very good. The reports are a fantastic sales tool for any detailer. As with anything there are limitations but realistically this is head and shoulders above anything else in the price bracket. Warning to UK buyers - don't buy direct as due to Brexit you will receive approx £50 import duty (which NexPTG very kindly paid for me as I was unaware). There are UK resellers where you will avoid this charge.

Pro model I really like the spreadsheet that documents all the readings but not much use here in the uk as the biggest flaw is all the American terms as here in the UK we don't have fenders or hoods would be more appropriate if the templates were regional and not default to US. With the terms and spelling in US if it does have the option to change Appologies if I've overlooked the option. The meter and bluetooth connection is brilliant and so clear to read on the the app.
