The app's Learning Machines aim to train the automation in the first, basic ability to voice letters into words. It also aims to consolidate the relationship between letters and sounds.
Children start reading at different ages so the app can be fun for children from 5 years old and up.
In READ MASKIN, we only have words with two or three sounds to add a solid foundation. We also use "words" that do not mean anything (we call them bus words) but that could be Swedish words. This makes the child aware that you have to read exactly as it says because you do not know what it will be and therefore can not guess.
Content
The app has 4 different "machines" that you can play to practice reading short words and 2 activities to consolidate the letter-audio connection.
Real words are symbolized by an Owl and Busword of a Bus Figure.
Below the info button there are, for example, a bit about reading.
alphabet
We use a principle where each letter and language sounds have an image that can be associated with the sound. The worm fights the sssss, the mouse beeps iiiii. If you can not read and have difficulty listening the first sound in a word, it is not natural to associate the letter o with a worm or the letter m with a mouse. On the other hand, it is natural for children to remember that the worm fights ssss and the mouse is piping iiii.
Memory
Memory with language sounds and language sounds that confirm the knowledge of which sounds and letters that belong.
Machine 1
There are only words and bus words with 2 sounds. The machine has 6 levels.
Levels 1 and 2 have words with sounds that are sound that you can hold out and that makes them easy to sound together.
Levels 3 and 4 have words with the sounds of level 1 o 2, more sounds, but still those that can be sustained.
Levels 5 and 6 have words with the sounds r y ä + sounds from previous levels. Even more sounds to master, still those who are easy to listen.
Machine 2
The machine has 3 levels. Levels 1 and 2 have words with 2 sounds and level 3 has words with 3 sounds.
Here you should read and listen to words and bus words and decide which word is written in the machine.
Level 1 has words with the sounds to be used in all of your durable sounds.
Level 2 has the sound of the sound of level 1. Several of the sounds are stop noise, making them harder to sound together.
Level 3 has the same sound as level 2.
Machine 3
The machine has 4 levels. Only words with 3 sounds are available here. All sounds are used.
At levels 1 and 2, one should determine if there is a bus word or one of two words where one word almost sounds like the bus word. At levels 3 and 4 you decide whether to hear a bus word or a real word in a competition between the Owl and the Bus figure.
Machine 4
Here are both 2-word and 3-word words. You can choose words to read yourself or listen to. You can choose to record the words and then listen to yourself. In support of reading there are pictures from the alphabet.
Reading machines are optimized for OS Marshmallow and upwards and for use on the tabletop, but also works on larger mobiles.
Reading machines are developed with production support from the Special Education School Authority.
