A walk through Wadköping open air museum with its old houses and farms is a journey through five hundred years of Swedish history. Wadköping is located by the river Svartån and is one of Örebro's most famous tourist destinations. It was first opened in 1965 when Örebro celebrated its 700th anniversary.
The houses and farms have been moved to Wadköping from other places in Örebro and it’s surroundings. Moving wooden houses has been done since the Middle Ages and beyond. But moving entire farms with outbuildings, something that happened in Wadköping, was a new.
The audio guides tell the story about the people who lived in the houses at the time. They are available in Swedish, English, German, Swedish with audio descriptions and Sign Language. Download the app and select the language of your choice by pressing the menu button and select your language.
