About this app

**Please note, Caffeinate is on hiatus while I work through some personal issues, thank you for your interest in Caffeinate however, that means the world to me!**

Caffeinate works by creating a Tile in your Quick Settings, a feature only available in Android Nougat (7.0) and higher.

Upon toggling, Caffeinate will keep your screen awake for five minutes (you can increase this timer by tapping the tile, or change the default time in the settings). After times up, your screen will continue sleeping normally.

Pretty much works exactly like CM's (and now LineageOS') caffeine function.

A few things to note...
- Caffeinate posts a notification when activated (and removed when the timer hits zero) in order to prevent the service from being killed. You can disable notifications for Caffeinate by long pressing the notification, and choosing to block all notifications (You'll miss the quick cancel option however!).

- By default, Caffeinate has an app launcher icon just like any other normal app on your phone, but you can choose to hide this icon through Caffeinate's settings menu.

- Caffeinate uses Firebase, in order to report crashes, some analytics, and remote config (A/B testing).

- Due to issues with aggressive battery optimizations features built into OneUI, Caffeinate is not supported on Samsung phones/tablets.

I have been using this app for several years and I don't know why I didn't write this review sooner, I install it on every compatibile Android devices I own (unfortunately some Samsungs are not, but Samsung is to blame, for bending certain standards to its will). It has a convenient tile icon, that doesn't remind of coffee at all (good for me, since I don't like it and don't drink it). it's completely free, without any ads, and the developer responds quickly and is helpful.

Completely essential for anyone doing actual work on their phone, like server maintenance+++ if the other app doesn't support a long screen timeout, and the screen turning off can have negative consequences. Just like the Caffeine extension I use on my Linux desktops with GNOME. Really weird when I searched for one I only found this that actually was any good and not bloated. It should be as easy as on/off, and having those basic settings is just practical.

OK, I guess. Hard to judge. My Huawei Nova-3e seems to sabotage all apps of this kind. Setting phone to stay awake really should be an option in the operating system. EDIT: I note that in the most recent System Update on my Huawei, the option to choose "Never" on the sleep function has appeared, so the function is now part of the operating system on a Huawei, and I will no longer need such apps.

I definitely understand the doubt, which is one of the reasons I've made Caffeinate, but I have noticed the Huawei devices have issues with these sorts of apps. I'm trying to work around it, but they don't make it easy lol. While there's no easy way to toggle it natively, you might be able to set the screen to stay awake in your display settings.

What’s new

This update introduces a new setting in the Caffeinate Tile preferences to set the maximum time before the Caffeinate Tile changes into "Infinity Mode".
